#Dumpling is known as #Kozhukattai in Tamil. This sweet kozhukattai is done with rice, coconut and jaggery. Today I prepared this dumpling to celebrate Chitra Pournami. This is one of the easiest sweet recipes and very tasty too.
Let us see the method of preparation. Approximately 9 dumplings cane be prepared.
Ingredients :
1/2 Cup Rice flour
2 Tsp Amaranth [ optional ]
1/4 Cup Coconut scrap
1/4 Cup Jaggery
1/2 Tsp Gingelly oil [ till / sesame oil ]
2 Cardamom, powdered with a tsp of sugar
1 pinch Salt
Method :
Dissolve jaggery in 1/4 cup of hot water.
Take all other ingredients in a basin.
Add lukewarm jaggery mixed water and knead into a tight dough.
Heat Idly maker with water on stove over medium flame.
Grease the pits of idly plate with oil.
Make small small balls of an amla size.
Keep a ball on your palm and tightly close giving pressure on the dough with fingers..
This way a dumpling is made with your finger impression over it.
Make dumplings this way and neatly arrange over the idly plate.
When the water started boiling, keep the idly plate inside the idly maker.
Close the lid and steam cook the dumplings for 5 to 7 minutes.
Take out a dumpling and check whether it is done.
Transfer into a serving bowl.
Enjoy when it is hot.
It tastes good even when it becomes cold.
