Buckwheat contains a glucoside called rutin, a phytochemical that strengthens capillary walls.[40] One clinical study showed mixed results in the treatment ofchronic venous insufficiency.[41] Dried buckwheat leaves were manufactured in Europe under the brand name "Fagorutin" for use as a tisane.
It also contains galloylated propelargonidins and procyanidins.[42]
Buckwheat contains D-chiro-inositol, a component of the secondary messenger pathway for insulin signal transduction found to be deficient in Type IIdiabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome. It is being studied for use in treating Type II diabetes.[43] [44]
Research on D-chiro-inositol and PCOS has shown promising results.[45][46]
High protein buckwheat flour is being studied for possible use as a functional ingredient in foods to reduce plasma cholesterol, body fat, and cholesterol gallstones.[47] 

Buckwheat Payasam


Ingrdients :

cooked Buckwheat

Buckwheat                                        : 1 Tbsp
Milk                                                  : 1 1/2 Cup
Salt                                                   : a pinch
Sugar                                                : 3 Tbsp ( Adjust )
Cardamom powder                           : 1/4 Tsp
Saffron                                              : 4 to 6 strings
Almond shavings                               : 2 or 3 Tsp
Cashew nuts                                      : 4

Method :
Take buckwheat in a small vessel. Wash 2 times and add 1/2 cup of water.
Take a cup of water in a pressure cooker. Keep the vessel containing washed buckwheat in the cooker.
Close and put weight on. Cook on high flame for 3 whistles.
Then keep the burner at SIM and cook for 3 minutes.
Keep aside.

Take milk in a vessel and bring it to boil.
Now add cooked buckwheat and mix well.

Buckwheat Payasam

Adjust the burner to SIM position and cook for 7 minutes.
Keep stirring at regular intervals.
Now add sugar.
Mix well to dissolve sugar.
Let it boil for 10 minutes keeping the burner at SIM.

Buckwheat Payasam

Add saffron and cardamom powder.
Transfer into a serving bowl and top it with almond shavings.
