Carrot Halwa

#CarrotHalwa : Don't have to stand before hot stove stirring with heavy ladle straining hand and shoulder as this carrot halwa has been done using microwave oven.
Not even a single drop of ghee is used but the taste is very good & yummy.

Carrot Halwa

Ingredients :

Grated Carrot                                      : 4 cups



Milk                                                  : 1/2 lt
Sugar                                                : 1 1/4 cup
Salt                                                   : a pinch
Cardamom powder                           : 2 tsp ( optional )

Method :
Take grated carrot in a microwave safe bowl.
Add milk and a pinch of salt.
Microwave HIGH for 8 minutes.

Check whether carrot becomes soft or not.
If not microwave for 3 more minutes.
Then add sugar and mix well and microwave for 10 minutes.

Take out the bowl in between once, mix well and then microwave.


Keep again for 20 minutes. Take out in between at regular intervals, mix well and microwave again.

The color turns from pale orange to deep orange color.
Again microwave till milk completely dries out and all blend together.
It may take another 10 to 15 minutes. 
If needed add cardamom powder finally.

The aroma of halwa is fine even without cardamom powder.
It takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on the power setting of microwave oven and the amount of ingredients taken.
Transfer into an air tight container.
Close the container only after the halwa cools down to room temperature.
Store in refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
