Kosambari - Lentil Salad

#Kosambari #LentilSalad : Kosambari is a salad prepared with lentils, cucumber, carrot & coriander leaves. It is served with meal for lunch in the state of Karnataka, India. It is the most simplest and tastiest dish prepared from #splitgreengram [ #moongdal ]. The salad comes out very tasty only if all the vegetables are finely chopped. Especially green chilli and coriander leaves are shredded finely just like hair strands.

Kosambari [ Lentil Salad ]

Ingredients :
1/4 cupGreen gram split [ Moong dal ]
1/4 cupCucumber finely chopped
1/4 cupCarrot finely chopped
1 TspCoriander leaves finely chopped
1/2 TspGreen chilly finely chopped
1/4 TspLemon juice [ optional
1/4 TspPepper powder [ optional]
3/4 TspSalt [ adjust ]

Method :
Wash green gram split [ moong dal ] in water and drain out water completely.
Take chopped cucumber in a bowl and add washed green gram split [ moong dal ].
Add enough salt and mix well.
Let it stand for 10 to 15 minutes.

After 10 - 15 minutes add all the other chopped ingredients into the same bowl containing green gram and cucumber.
Then adjust lemon juice and salt.
Just before serving add crushed pepper or pepper powder.
Tasty healthy lentil salad, the kosambari is ready.
