#LemonAval #LemonBeatenRice : This sour n spicy lemon #aval preparation has been done with thick #beatenrice. It takes hardly 15 minutes to prepare if all the ingredients are ready.
Ingredients :
Aval ( beaten rice ) : 1 cup ( thick one )
vegetables :
Onion ( medium size ) : 1 sliced
Carrot : 1/4 cup diced ( optional )
Capsicum : 1/3 cup diced ( optional )
Cauliflower : 1/4 cup cut pieces ( optional )
Green chilly : 1 chopped
Coriander leaves : 1 tblsp cut pieces ( adjust )
Curry leaves : 10
Lemon : 1 small
Salt : to taste
Tempering :
Mustard seeds : 1/4 tsp
Urad dhal : 1/2 tsp
Gram dhal : 2 tsp
Ground nut broken : 2 tblsp
Cashew nut broken : 2 tsp
Asafoetida : 1/2 tsp
Oil : 3 tsp
Masala powders:
Red chilly powder : 1/2 tsp ( if needed)
Turmeric powder : a pinch
Jeera powder : 1/4 tsp
Method :
Take thick aval in a vessel and wash 2 times thoroughly.
Add 1/4 tsp of salt and sprinkle 1 tblsp of water.
Mix well & keep aside.
Now in a kadai add 3 tsp of oil.
Splutter mustar seeds, jeera and then urad dhal, cashew, gram dhal and ground nuts.
Keep stirring till dhals and nuts are roasted well to golden brown color.
Add asafoetida, curry leaves & green chilly.
Saute for few seconds.
Now add red chilly powder.
Then add sliced onion and saute well
Once onions turn slightly pink, add all the vegetables and keep on stirring.
Here I have used only cauliflower.
Add cumin powder and turmeric powder.
Add salt and cover with a lid till the vegetables become soft.
Open the lid and then add aval.
Mix well.
Now turn off stove and squeeze in lemon juice.
Again mix thoroughly and cover the kadai with a lid.
Keep it covered for 7 minutes.
Your lemon aval is ready.
Transfer into a serving plate.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
No need of any side dish! Enjoy!!
