#ThakkaliKoottu #TomatoLentil : this lentil tastes very good if done with naattu thakkali. Because nattu thakkali is more sour in taste than bangalore thakkali.
This is the simplest side dish from #thakkali [ #Tomato ].
Ingredients :
Naattu thakkali ( tomato country variety ) : 2 big sized
Green chilly : 1
Onion : 1 small sized
Sambar Powder : 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder : a pinch
Salt : 1 tsp (adjust)
Coriander leaves : little
Thuvar dhal( cooked ) : 3 tblsp
To grind :
Coconut scrap : 2 tblsp
Cumin : 1/4 tsp
Rice flour : 1/4 tsp
Black Pepper : 4 to 6
To temper :
Mustard seeds : 1/4 tsp
Urad dhal : 1 tsp
Oil : 1/2 tsp
Preparation :
Take all the ingredients to grind in a mixer jar.
First grind without adding water.
Then add less than 1/4 cup of water & make into a nice paste.
Keep aside.
Chop onions & tomatoes.
Split green chilly lengthwise.
Switch ON the stove.
Keep a cooking vessel with 1/4 cup of water on stove.
Add all the items except coriander leaves and cooked dhal.
Close and cook till the tomatoes become tender.
Now add ground coconut paste & cooked dhal.
Mix well and allow it to simmer for 3 to 4 minutes at SIM position.
Transfer into a serving bowl.
Temper mustard seeds & urad dhal and pour over the prepared koottu.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Note :
Cooked green gram dhal can also be used instead of thuvar dhal.
Add one or two green chilly for spicy koottu.
Excellent side dish for rasam & sambar rice.
Can also be relished by mixing with white rice also.
Thakkali koottu also goes well with chappathy & poori.
