#GaramMasalaPowder : I rarely use garam masala powder in any of my recipes. My daughter asked me to prepare and parcel home made garam masala powder. So I googled and found the ingredients at http://www.rakskitchen.net/2012/11/garam-masala-powder-recipe.html. I found all the ingredients accordingly and here is how I made the powder. In addition to given ingredients, I took a table spoon of cumin seeds and cinnamon powder.
Ingredients :
Coriander seeds : 1/4 cup
Fennel seeds : 1 Tbsp
Cumin seeds : 1 Tbsp
Pepper : 2 Tbsp
Cardamom : 2 Tbsp
Cloves : 2 Tbsp
Cinnamon Powder : 1 Tbsp
Cinnamon Sticks : 3
Nutmeg : 1/2
Star Anise : 4
Bay leaves : 4
Method :
Keep a kadai on slow flame.
First dry roast coriander seeds.
When nice aroma comes out of coriander seeds transfer to a plate.
Now roast all other ingredients one by one for few minutes.
Transfer on to the plate.
Allow to come to room temperature.
Grind all the ingredients in a mixer grinder and add cinnamon powder also.
Mix well.
Sieve through a colander and store in an airtight container/bottle.
You wont believe whole house is filled with garam masala smell.
It smells better than what we usually get from market.
